The Italian Chamber of Commerce in China (CCIC) is pleased to invite you to a Talk over lunch with Paolo Gentiloni, Co-Chair of the United Nations High-Level Expert Group and former Prime Minister of Italy. The event will take place on Monday 23 March 2026, starting from 12:00 at Calypso Mediterranean restaurant, in Shanghai.
The luncheon talk will be followed by a CCIC Eastern China Members' Meeting, dedicated to the presentation of two key annual business confidence reports: the CCIC Business Sentiment Survey 2026, and the European Business in China Position Paper 2025/2026 providing a comprehensive overview of the business climate and outlook of Italian and European companies operating in China. The entire event will be held at Calypso: the seminar sessions will take place on the second floor, while lunch will be served on the ground floor of the restaurant.

Paolo Gentiloni, Co-Chair of the United Nations High-Level Expert Group and former Prime Minister of Italy
Paolo Gentiloni currently serves as Co-Chair of the United Nations High-Level Expert Group on the Global Debt Crisis and as Chair of the European Investment Bank Global Advisory Council. He is also a Nonresident Distinguished Fellow at the Brookings Institution and Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins SAIS Europe and at Università Cattolica in Milan. As a distinguished Italian statesman, he is internationally recognized for his leadership as Prime Minister of Italy from 2016 to 2018 and as European Commissioner for Economy from 2019 to 2024. In December 2024, the United Nations Secretary-General selected him as Co-Chair of the Group of Experts to Promote Policy Solutions for Resolving the Debt Crisis. In addition to his political career, Gentiloni is an accomplished author. His book, La Sfida Impopulista, examines the challenges posed by contemporary populism, offering insightful perspectives on safeguarding democratic values in the face of rising nationalism. Gentiloni's expertise and experience make him a sought-after speaker on global economic and political affairs. His keynote addresses provide in-depth analysis of current developments, informed by his firsthand involvement in policymaking at both national and European levels. With clarity and authority, he addresses economic trends, governance, and the future of the European project, equipping audiences to navigate and respond to the complexities of today's world.
