Innovation ecosystems vary enormously from one country to another.

China, after making innovation a strategic priority for its economic development, continues to open up its market and to reinforce its technological innovation capabilities through increasing investment in talents and technologies.

In Italy, COVID-19 affected its social and economic system that already suffered long-term structural problems.

However, the country can count on being the world's 7th largest manufacturing economy, with a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem mainly made by dynamic SMEs.

The post-pandemic era is also offering Italy an opportunity to structurally reorient public and private investments to further drive innovation and economic growth.

During this event, we will explore some of the challenges and opportunities that China and Italy are facing in fostering research, startup creation and growth, as well as innovation.

The speakers will touch base and try to reply to the following questions:

  • What are the differences between the Italian and Chinese startup scenes?
  • What are the challenges in fostering innovation and how to address them?
  • How have the Italian and Chinese innovation ecosystems evolved over the past decades?
  • How do China and Italy plan to promote research and innovation in the future?
  • What are the priorities for innovation ecosystems to lead to the transformation of economies?
