Result of a process of M&A operations led by its ancestor company Somet, founded by Gianni Radici in 1967, today sixty per cent of Itema is held by Gianni Radici's family heirs. The remaining shares belong to the Arizzi and Torri families. All families of entrepreneurs with origins in Val Seriana, northern of Bergamo, where the headquarter of Itema is still set.
With 1100 employees worldwide, three world-class production sites in Italy, one in Switzerland and one in China, Itema has a worldwide presence with commercial, after-sales and training centers in Italy, Switzerland, China, India, Japan, USA, Hong Kong, Dubai and it is represented through agencies and promoters in 130 countries.
Itema Weaving Machinery (China), established in 2002, is the full mission branch of Itema in China, with 160 employees and 52 millions € turnover. It develops, produces, sells and provides after-sales services for the local made product range, which is sold to Chinese (80%) and Foreign (20%) weaving companies. It also acts as representative of Itema Italian and Swiss products in China for other 12 millions € business volume.
Since 1981, year of first export for Somet weaving machines from Italy to China, our mission has been the support to development and growth of China textile industry with our shuttle less and high performances weaving machines, our textile mastery and our commitment to sustainability in fabric production.
